Every year I have customers ask me, when is it okay to decorate for fall? While the official start of fall is September 22nd there is no set "rule" about fall decor. Fall is personally a favorite time of year. I look forward to the cool crisp mornings, the smell of freshly harvested fields on our farm, the crunch of leaves under my feet and a warm pumpkin pie.
When do I start adding Fall decor to my home? I like to roll it out when the weather turns cool or the leaves have started to put on their beautiful display of colors. If you prefer more of a scheduled time, Labor Day is always a "safe" date to start implementing it in your home. Between you and I, I've even been known to put up my Fall Wreath towards the end of August. (shhhh)
Where do you begin? I always recommend starting with a Wreath for your front door. That's a simple way to have a touch of fall. I personally love table decor. How about a wreath in the center of your table with a candle in the center? Or a reclaimed wood box with some candles nestled in a fall garland? You can keep the box and just change out the filler seasonally. You can use garland anywhere, like on top of your cabinets or on your fireplace mantle. Just adding some pops of the fall colors really make my home just a little more cozy.
There are so many other ways to add a touch of fall. Lanterns, candles, signs, pumpkins, etc. Speaking of pumpkins, I love adding pumpkins & gourds to my front porch. (Just make sure to wait until the weather cools off or they tend to not last long) The shop has a nice assortment of Fall decor in right now. How do you decorate your tables or front porches for fall?
